“The first camera I owned in my life was a Zenith 122. A Russian made camera which was gifted to me by my mother. I was 14 back then, and I remember that the first shot that I actually captured in my life time had nothing on it – a blank image.
Later, it was Mr. H. R. M. Perera my first photography teacher who advised and guided me to find my roots in photography. During the earlier times, my passion was wild life and adventure photography. Needless to say my passion, kept me away from home on most days, but the experiences and the lessons I learnt were immense that followed a fair load of photographic memories to cherish. Then came the turning point in my life as a photographer when my dear friend Deshan De Silva (who is an extraordinary photographer himself) gifted me with the first ever Nikon Camera that I‘ve owned in my life. It opened up more areas for me as a photographer and I continued to explore further capturing nature, wild life and landscape on 35 mm positive films (slides).
Years went by and I switched to digital photography for commercial photography reasons although my first love always remained to be filming on 35 mm positives.
Yet another twist came into being when I made a transition into the field of glamour and fashion photography with the guidance of my close friend Nirosha Perera (media personality)
With fashion and glamour photography I was exposed to a whole new aspect of photography that gave me greater space to experiment and gain knowledge and certain ideas that I hadn’t realized existed.
My name is Meesha
